About

Welcome to my blog!

I have spent 45 years as an engineer, entrepreneur and Venture investor in the Silicon Valley.

In addition my life has been a tapestry of many, many colorful threads. After an engineering degree from IIT Delhi in 1968, I went on to complete my PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from St Mary’s College in Moraga, California in 1981. From designing nuclear power plants and offshore oil rigs to working on artificial intelligence applications, I have had many varied career experiences.

Since 1991, I’ve focussed on nurturing the dreams and talents of others by providing start-up and seed capital to Silicon Valley entrepreneurs.

Also  I have  been lucky enough to explore the world – the startling terrains of Patagonia, the Arctic Tundra, the Himalayan landscapes of Bhutan and Kashmir, the pyramids of Egypt, the magnificent temples at Angor Wat, the giant turtles of the Galapagos, and many other beautiful places! My passions include nature photography, travel and wildlife, astronomy, archaeology, mathematics, crossword puzzles and science and philanthropy.

I plan to write more regularly in this new format, mainly a commentary on the world of money and investing and all perspectives that go with it. I have gained perspectives that may enlighten, amuse or even surprise you.

I hope I can pepper these blogs with other areas in life that matter – money is not the only thing that we invest ourselves in or that matters for our prosperity.

I know you love math and numbers. Here is something interesting from Epoch Times:
    – Radius of the Moon: 1080 miles = 3x 360 miles
    – Radius of the Earth: 3960 miles = 11x 360 miles
    – Radius of Earth + Moon: 5040 miles = 1x2x3x4x5x6x7 = 7x8x9x10 miles
    – Diameter of Earth: 7930 miles = 8x9x10x11 miles
    – There are 5280 feet in a mile = (10x11x12x13) – (9x10x11x12) feet
Nothing close to your prime numbers, but still interesting!
